301 - Realize How Much You’re Worth with Michael Sykes
“Once you have self love, unapologetic self love, you can walk in all your truth.” - Michael Sykes
Some people remind us to trust the process, even when it seems hopeless. Michael Sykes is one of those people. He's the cheerleader encouraging us on the uneasy journey to authenticity. What I appreciate most is his commitment to integrity, even when the path toward that innate wholeness feels inaccessible. He doesn't shy away from sharing the most heart-centered version of himself with the world. Sure, he may metaphorically faceplant from time to time (who hasn't?!). But, Michael stays the course––and he's created a guide to help us do the same.
"I believe in love,” Michael begins. “I think love changes the world. Love changes experience, and I have a different take on equity and a whole bunch of other things. But, at my core, it's service. It's about how do you help this world become a better place? How are you changing people's experiences in the ways that they can receive it? And, how are you loving? That's my measurement on how I interact."
Michael is the founder of Equitable Solutions and author of Easy Equity, a transformative workbook that delves into the interconnected realms of mind, body, and spirit. His work is rooted in vulnerability and authenticity, offering individuals and organizations tools that encourage reflection, mindfulness, and intentional practices for healing and growth.
Inspired by the love and resilience of his family, Michael has dedicated his journey to creating spaces where people feel seen, validated, and empowered to honor themselves and others. He acknowledges the challenges inherent to building a more equitable, compassionate world. "Oftentimes, society is saying men have to be tough. Don't ask for help. Pull yourself up by your bootstraps. All this stuff that isn't true.”
How did Michael flip the tired "tough-guy" script? By learning to love from the inside out. “I used to think my gifts of being emotional were weaknesses,” he admits.”I was frustrated with being so empathetic. But now, that's my superpower!"
When we love ourselves, we’re less likely to repeat toxic tropes. Michael agrees. “I see how people treat themselves, 80% of the self-talk is negative,” he observes. “When you don't love you, you're susceptible to any and everything.”
